Thuja

Thuja essential oil is derived from the steam distillation of the leaves and branches of Thuja trees. There are two main botanical species of Thuja that produce essential oils: Thuja occidentalis and Thuja plicata.

Thuja occidentalis, also known as Eastern Arborvitae or White Cedar, is native to eastern North America, particularly the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada.

Thuja plicata, also known as Western Red Cedar or Giant Arborvitae, is native to western North America, ranging from Alaska to California.

Both species of Thuja are commonly cultivated as ornamental trees and are used in traditional medicine for their therapeutic properties. Their essential oils are known for their antifungal, antibacterial, and expectorant properties and are used in aromatherapy for respiratory and skin conditions.
