Grapefruit

There are several botanical species that can produce grapefruit essential oil. However, the most common ones are Citrus paradisi and Citrus x paradisi. The growing region for these species varies depending on the cultivar and the climate.

Citrus paradisi, also known as "white grapefruit," is grown primarily in the United States, particularly in Florida and California. This species is known for its light, sweet scent and is often used in perfumes and aromatherapy blends.

Citrus x paradisi, also known as "pink grapefruit," is a hybrid of the Citrus maxima and Citrus sinensis species. It is grown in several countries, including the United States, Israel, South Africa, and Brazil. This species has a slightly stronger scent than Citrus paradisi and is often used in skincare and household cleaning products.

Other species that can produce grapefruit essential oil include Citrus grandis, also known as "pomelo," and Citrus limon, also known as "lemon." However, these species are less commonly used for grapefruit essential oil production.
