It is in this property that Anthony Silva, the founder, started manufacturing coconut products in 1920. Presently, the company focuses on the production of high quality, coconut milk and coconut cream for the local and export markets.

S.A. Silva & Sons Lanka (Private) Limited

Playing a leading role in Silvermill Group, our processing facilities conform to Mars (Masterfoods) quality standards, which is the "benchmark" of the desiccated coconut industry. Furthermore, the plant is certified through regular Third Party audits such as BRC (Grade Achieved: AA) and FSSC 22000 to ensure the highest standards of product quality are continuously maintained. The plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 11000 metric tons (24 million pounds) and is also kosher and organic certified. A complete range of Desiccated, Toasted, Sweetened, Coloured and Flavoured coconut is manufactured and exported to all continents of the world.

Adjoining the desiccated plant is a coconut oil processing facility where parings (brown skin) of the coconut is expelled to an unrefined coconut oil of superior, edible quality. Highest quality standards are maintained through annual BRC certification.

Within the same property, is the frozen coconut facility, a product range that is new to the company, consisting of blast freezing equipment, reefer storage facilities etc.

The group ventured into providing biomass-based energy solutions in 2007 with investments over Rs 2 billion in the last decade.

Our Power & Energy Sector saves over 10,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Our biomass replaces over 11 million litres of furnace oil per year resulting in a saving of approximately USD 2 million of foreign exchange per annum to the country (Note: Sri Lanka imports all its petroleum requirements).

Understanding the need to diversify the product range to apices and allied products, ICE was created. The company specializes in the export of spices such as Cinnamon (Canela), Pepper, Cloves, Nutmeg, Mace from Sri Lanka.

In 2012, International Commodity Exports was among the top twelve exporters of Cinnamon to the world and Mexico, being the largest market for Sri Lankan Cinnamon. We are HACCP, Kosher, ISO certified and new products offering include Essential Oils.

While coconut growing nations have known the health benefits of coconut water for generations, only since 2005 have western nations found this well-kept secret. Coconut water is widely used as a Sports (Isotonic) Drink and Silvermill Group is proud to be associated with VITACOCO the market leader of packaged coconut water in the world. Coconut Water in 200ml, 250ml, 330ml and 1liter formats are manufactured and shipped to all continents.

Surplus capacity on the Tetra lines are used to provide ‘contract packing’ services to well known brands in Sri Lanka and abroad.
