Essential Oil Seedlings

Essential Oil Seedlings (Pty) Ltd is based near the little town of Piet Retief which is situated in the South African province of Mpumalanga. The business has been operational for 7 years and specialises in the supply of high quality tea tree seedlings (MelaleucaAlternifolia) but we have recently expanded the product bouquet and are conducting trials involving varieties of Rosemary, Roman Chamomile, Rose Geranium, Oregano and other herbs. Our climate is characterised by harsh winters with more than 50 days having heavy frost but the summers are extremely hot where it is not unusual to have temperatures of between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius. In addition to this, the area has recently been experiencing a period when rainfall has fallen way below average adding to the difficulty of crop cultivation. Instead of viewing these conditions as an insurmountable problem, Ryan Biggs – the CEO of the company has used this as a unique opportunity to select and clone the hardiest tea tree plants with the highest yields and resistance to frost to nurture his genetic pool into one which produces good yields of an extremely high quality oil by any international standard.
