Plants medium-sized, rather stout, dark green, in loose mats.
Stems often prostrate, to ca. 4 cm long, loosely irregularly branched, occasionally with erect or ascending branches, sparsely foliate, sometimes naked; branches densely foliate, simple or with branchlets.
Stem and
branch leaves similar, broadly ovate, rounded or orbicular, 1.32–1.58 mm × 0.77–1.40 mm, broadly acute or apiculate at apex, strongly constricted at insertion; margins plane or rarely waved, serrulate nearly throughout; costae reaching above mid-leaf, not projecting at tips; median leaf cells long rhomboidal to linear, 68–100 µm × 6–7 µm, thin-walled; apical cells shortly rhomboidal; alar cells moderately differentiated, shortly rectangular or elliptical.
Autoicous.
Perichaetial leaves lanceolate, costate.
Setae ca. 10 mm long, reddish brown, smooth; capsules inclined, ovoid, dark green; opercula shortly rostrate, with curved beaks; endostome segments as long as exostome teeth, perforate; cilia short, reduced.
Spores not seen.
Provided by: [C].Moss Flora of ChinaPlants medium-sized to robust, in wide, loose, yellow- to dark-green mats, becoming black below. Stems prostrate, often denuded with age, irregularly to subpinnately branched; branches erect, elongate. Leaves ventrally appressed and dorsally subsecund or terete to subcomplanate when dry, erect to spreading and homomallous when moist. Stem leaves concave, neither plicate nor decurrent, 1.4—1.8 x 0.8-1.3 mm, broadly ovate to oblong-ovate, acute to obtuse or obtuse-apiculate; margins sermlate nearly to the base, occasionally serrate at the apex; costa thick at the base, tapered and becoming very slender, rarely forked, ending 1/2-2/3 up the leaf, sometimes in a spine; upper median cells linear, 47-100 x 4-10 µm; cells of acumen fusiform to linear, 15-37 x 4-12 µm; basal cells at the costa rectangular, becoming lax toward the alar regions, 25-60 x 7-20 µm; alar cells laxly rectangular, 20-50 x 7-20 µm , bordered by 1-2 rows of slenderly rectangular cells (15-47 x 4-8 µm). Branch leaves 0.6-1.7 x 0.4-1.2 mm, occasionally twisted at the apex. Autoicous. Perigonial bracts ovate, abmptly short-acuminate, and blunt, up to 0.7 mm long. Perichaetial leaves abmptly to gradually acuminate from an oblong, sheathing base, up to 2.2 mm long. Setae red, smooth, 10-18 mm long; capsules ± curved, 1.3-2.1 x 0.6-1.2 mm long, oblong-ovoid, tapered at the short neck, constricted below the mouth; annulus of 2 layers of inflated cells; operculum conic-rostrate, up to 1.4 mm long; cilia of endostome 1-3, well developed, nodose or appendiculate. Spores 12-20 µm, smooth.
