Rizoma rastrero o suberecto; hojas 40-70 cm; pecíolo 20-35 cm; lámina 20-35 cm, reducida gradualmente hacia el ápice confluente, pinnatífido; yema(s) en la axila de una(s) pinna(s) distal(es); pinnas 15-19 pares, 6-14 x 1.4-3 cm, sésiles, los 2-3 pares proximales deflexos, incisas 2/3-3/4 de su ancho; segmentos 4-5 mm de ancho, oblicuos, subfalcados, agudos; nervaduras 10-13 pares, el par proximal de los segmentos adyacentes dirigiéndose hacia el seno; indumento del envés en su mayoría de tricomas c. 0.1 mm, aciculares, sobre el raquis y las costas, el tejido laminar glabro en ambas superficies, verrugoso; soros indusiados; indusio pequeño, pardo pálido, ciliolado; esporangios glabros. Bosques húmedos montanos y selvas altas perennifolias, especialmente a lo largo de riachuelos y sobre rocas calizas.     Rhizomes creeping to suberect, ca. 1 cm diam., with rhizome scales few, tan, 3–5 mm long, glabrous; fronds monomorphic or subdimorphic, the fertile longer and more erect, 40–70 cm long; stipes about as long as blades, stramineous, stellate-hairy; blades herbaceous, pustulate abaxially, pinnate-pinnatifid, 20–35 x 12– 20 cm, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, gradually reduced toward the pinnatifid apices; pinnae 15–19 pairs, sessile, 2–3 proximal pairs deflexed, these the largest, 8–12 x 1.4–3 cm, pinnatifid ca. 0.7 the way to costae, one or more distal pinnae viviparous at bases; segments oblique, subfalcate, 2–4 mm wide, acutish at apices; veins 10–13 pairs, proximal pair from adjacent segments running to sinuses or nearly so, but not connivent; indument abaxially of mostly simple (a few stellate) hairs ca. 0.1 mm long on rachises, costae, and costules, tissue between veins glabrous on both sides; sori medial, with indusia small, tan, ciliolate, persistent; sporangia glabrous.
